I worked on a seahorse today. Playing around with making pleated fabric after reading and rereading The Art of Manipulating Fabric by Colette Wolff. That book never ceases to amaze me. The amount of work it took to put it together! It is so comprehensive and whenever I pick it up all kinds of applications for her techniques begin to occur to me. I love books like that. The pleats give the seahorse texture in rows which is pretty cool.
I had this fabric leftover from bird making. It is super tightly woven and really thin and durable. What do they call this kind of quilting cotton? Hand dye? It is great for making soft toys. And I thought it was appropriately seahorse in color. I added some seed beads above and below each pleat. Taking this photo it occured to me that some seaweed, or an anemone would be awesome in this scene.
