Wading Bird #3
I love yellow and black and gray together. The wonderful mustard fabric I've been using on the wading birds' beaks makes up the body of this new one, and the ruff, of course. The wings are two different Japanese prints, some black Kona cotton, and a piece of vintage cityscape fabric that Mimi gave me last week when I was at her house. That piece was how this bird began - like I've said before, it's all about the wings.
Here she is with her two counterparts, looking out into the world inquisitively.
What you may not know is that only moments prior certain birds were behaving rather uncooperatively.
This is what most of my photo shoots look like most of the time. Glad to know I'm not alone in this.

Amazing. The work you're doing now is so good. You've had a real influence on my drawings. I can't afford to buy anything yet but hopefully will soon.

I love that you included that last photo. Your works are such perfection to me, so it's nice to see the sides of things that don't always work out. Lovely!

The colors are wonderful. Such accents to the mostly white birds.

I really like these wading birds. I think they are your best yet. We sometimes have lunch at a pub overlooking the river, running down to the beach. We watch the wading birds while we wait for our food. You have them just right!

Is it just me or does the guy still standing look righteous?

Hilarious! As I scrolled through the pictures I was just wondering how you balance the birds so well when creating them, then I hit upon the crash victims. Makes me feel better about my wonky, top heavy, big headed teddies.

Man, you make such cute yet stately birds. Wonderful.
